ん: one kana, four places of articulation

ん is the only kana that forms a mora by itself, and its place of articulation follows the next sound: [m] before p/b/m, [ŋ] before k/g, [n] before t/d/n, and [ɴ] word-finally.

How to practise

The method boundary (important)

This page gives mora evidence only: 150–170 ms per mora across four words shows ん takes a full beat. The assimilation (m/n/ŋ/ɴ) is a teaching fact, but not measured here — the nasal boundaries in synthesis are not reliable enough to report numbers.

If it cannot be measured, it is not reported.
